As a late-life operator, Hilcorp assumes operatorship with the expectation that when wells and facilities are no longer producing or have become obsolete, we will plug the wells and remediate the land. Hilcorp has dedicated team which decommissions and restores an average of 250 wells per year around the country.
When feasible, Hilcorp explores ways to extend the societal benefit of a site with innovative solutions, including the conversion of sites to Carbon Capture and Underground Sequestration (CCUS), wind energy, geothermal, and tidal power. Conversion of this infrastructure to new forms of energy extends societal benefit of the infrastructure in place.
